Google Adwords Vs Google Adsense?

I have heard many people talk about two of them. Do you sell something for use on your site? Can you use a site like Geocities or Angelfire .. those that are free? I also heard that you have to pay for Google Adsense … or pay for clicks ..?? I do not have much of an understanding on this. Can someone help me? There free information on this subject? I saw a beautiful site about Adestroyer or something .. I do not want to pay for a book or any other tool that is just going to suck my wallet dry. Thank you. In addition, if used properly, how much money can you make use of this tool?
