Adsense Tour
After I sign up to google adsense, they ask for a channel. What I need to do ?
I have no idea. Please give me a tour as I a newbies
Hi there,
In simple terms, Channels provide a means of tracking your ads. They can provide more details like which site, pages generated the income. Which ad unit (NOT ad) was clicked and so on.
Custom Channels
Say you have three ads units on your page. Let’s give each a name – A, B and C. Now you have placed A at the top, B at the center and C at the side of your page. You are on an experiment to know which position is working best for you. How do you it? It’s through channels.
Now let me go little further.
At the time of generating code, you create a channel each for A, B and C and name them accordingly so that you can distinguish them later. Now you place the code on your pages, site wide. After running ads on your site like this for a while, you can see for yourself which channel was performing for you. This in turn tells you which position was working out best for you.
URL Channels
Now let’s take a totally different scenario. You have two (or more) sites where you use adsense. You would be willing to know which site performs for you. Here too, channels come to your help. You can use URL channels for this.
