Please help me about life in Australia!?
My name is Deboorah, I live in the UK and I am 15 years old. In August, my family and I intend to go to Australia One year coz my father got a job in marketing in Sydney and my mom will be putting me in the local school. I am really worried about this because I know nothing about the schools and everything there. Both my parents are from Nigeria, so I'm also a bit apprehensive that people treat me different because I am a Black British and I heard Australia can be quite racist at times. I do not want to leave England and I need as much information as possible to prepare the trip.
Hey Deborah's all good, although there are elements racist we are largely pretty cool. Some people may blame you for being a "pom" but it's generally all in fun. Our schools are usually fairly casual, but they require a uniform. You'll most probably from 10 years and you will be the half of our school year is from January to December. We have 4 quarters per school year of 10 weeks each with 2 weeks of vacation between both. Our summer vacation time is the Christmas holidays a few days before Christmas until the end of January. You'll love the time and in August is the moment things start to heat up a bit. Once you get here and settle in and make your friends jealous by sitting on a real beach Christmas you do not wish to return to England. I would not worry too much about the move and make the most of it, sure it's scary, but it fun too. Good luck with the move I am sure everything will be fine.
